Uploading PDF Documents
A comprehensive guide to uploading your PDF files into DocuSigner.

DocuSigner makes it easy to upload your PDF documents to prepare them for signing. Our platform is designed for a smooth and intuitive upload experience.

Accessing the Upload Page

You can typically find an "Upload Document" button or link prominently displayed on your dashboard or in the main navigation sidebar. Clicking this will take you to the PDF Uploader page.

Upload Methods

DocuSigner supports two primary methods for uploading your PDF files:

  • Drag and Drop: Simply drag your PDF file from your computer and drop it onto the designated upload area on the page.
  • Click to Select: Click within the upload area to open your computer's file browser, then navigate to and select your PDF file.

File Requirements and Limitations

To ensure a smooth process, please keep the following in mind:

  • File Format: DocuSigner currently accepts documents in PDF (.pdf) format only.
  • File Size: There is a maximum file size limit (e.g., 10MB). If your file exceeds this, you may need to optimize or compress it before uploading. The uploader will usually indicate if a file is too large.
  • Single File Upload: Typically, you upload one document at a time to initiate a new signing workflow. For batch processing, advanced features might be available in higher-tier plans.

After Uploading

Once your PDF is successfully uploaded, it will usually be processed and displayed in a preview. You will then be able to:

  • Review the document.
  • Proceed to the Document Editor to add signature fields, text boxes, dates, and assign them to signers.
  • View an AI-generated summary of the document (if the feature is enabled).

Common Issues & Tips:

  • Invalid File Type: If you try to upload a non-PDF file, the system will reject it. Ensure your document is saved as a PDF.
  • File Too Large: Consider using PDF compression tools if your document exceeds the size limit. Many free online tools are available.
  • Upload Stuck or Failing: Check your internet connection. Large files may take longer to upload. If issues persist, try a different browser or contact support.
  • Password-Protected PDFs: Some systems may not support password-protected PDFs directly. You might need to remove the password before uploading or check if the platform offers a way to handle them.

Successfully uploading your document is the first step to an efficient digital signing process with DocuSigner!
